When hiring a disc jockey company for your special event, you should always be asking questions. Questions about their experience, music selections, their ability to interact professionally with your guests & other vendors. Here are some typical questions we have been asked by our clients.

General

Do you provide Karaoke?
Sound Innovations provides professional mobile disc jockey services. We play music for receptions, dinner & dancing. We provide presentation audio services. We can provide live PA services for soloists & small chamber music groups. Wireless microphones are available for "Songs of Love"... but no Karaoke.

Do you have equipment rentals?
Sound Innovations provides professional mobile disc jockey services. All services directly involve our personnel. We do not rent out our hardware.

Do you provide limosines, photography, videography, catering, flowers & picture frames?
Sound Innovations Professional Disc Jockeys provides the best mobile DJ services serving Toronto & Southern Ontario. There are companies which offer a one-stop-shop wedding factory solutions. Our business focus is mobile DJ entertainment. Our attention to detail has gained us our reputation of quality in our field.

Will you invite prospective clients to my event?
Never. We respect each & every one of our clients PRIVATE functions.

Prospective clients may read customer testimonials & view a video sampling during their consultation meeting at our office. Many of our clients have been guests at previous events we had serviced. They were suitably impressed & desired the same level of quality for their own event.

Do you provide reception & dinner music?
Reception & dinner music is included with our service. You choose the desired style.

Do we get to select the music you play?
We will note your musical tastes during our consultation meeting. Our CD Library & Requst Forms are online so that you can list your favorites & your no-play preferences. Customized entertainment sets are developed by our professionals specifically for your event. Our DJs will use their experience to fine tune sets during your event.

How many people does the DJ bring with him?
This depends on the service that you have contracted. Both a DJ & Assistant / Technician will be assigned if your event warrants extra personnel. A full Fashion Show will require an operational crew. All of this will be detailed in writing in advance. There are no surprises.

Will my DJ take requests?
Unless you direct us otherwise, we will take requests during events. We will consider your play & no play lists, reserved songs, the general flow of the evening. We try to play music to keep everyone happy & will endeavor to incorporate all suitable requests.

What if we want the DJ to play for a bit longer than we booked for?
One or two more dances is usually no problem, we are happy to oblige a large gathering. If "a bit longer" & "just one more song" equates to 30 minutes or more, extra billing rates will apply. Clients must consider thier guests safety & the venues staff when trying to extend an evening.

When will my DJ set up?
Typically, we strive to be "ready to rock" more than an hour before your guests arrive at your chosen venue. That includes full sound & light equipment setup, full sound balancing, cable tie down & safety checks. We coordinate our arrival & departure times, power requirements & procedures with the venue itself. We have never ever been late to an event.

How will the DJ dress for my event?
Our DJs are clean cut & dress smartly at all times but obviously the nature of the function will determine how formally or informally your DJ will be dressed. Generally we work in a suit, shirt & tie, dress shoes. A less formal event such as a sporting club function or a school dance we would arrive in smart casual attire: Kahhis & a Sound Innovations polo. If there is a certain dress code that you would like your DJ to dress to please inform us prior to your function.

How large is your music library?
Our online database lists in excess of 30,000 records. Our physical library exceeds 50,000 tracks. We bring a suitable protion of our library to your event to handle the 100 or so tunes that will be played. We are always prepared for requests in a variety of styles.

Do you provide backup equipment and personnel in case of an emergency?
Even professional equipment can fail on occasion & we are prepared with spare equipment for maximum hardware redundancy. We also have roster of competent backup DJs in case of illness or accident.

Wedding Receptions

Will your disc jockey get interactive with our guests?
The amount of interactivity you want will be discussed during your consultation meetings with us. We can MC, run interactive games, & distribute novelties. Our DJs do not dress up like Elvis Priestly, Elton John, Santa Claus. Our DJs are professionals. We will coordinate timing with any additional entertainers at your event to make sure it runs smoothly.

I dont see my special song on your list, Can you still provide it?
We will make every effort we can to take any unnecessary work out of your hands. We will try to provide your special song for you if it is commercially available. We haven't dissappointed a customer yet.

Will there be a microphone present for speeches?
Yes. All of our Entertainment Packages come with the highest quality microphones available.

Can I watch my prospective DJ perform at an event?
Prospective clients may read customer testimonials & view a video sampling during their consultation meeting. We respect each & every one of our clients PRIVATE events.

My special song on YouTube, Can you still provide it?
We will try to provide your special song for you if it is commercially available.

How should I go about with the care and feeding of my DJ?
We would ask that a small table be provided close to the DJ equipment. We are at events to work. Games are usually executed between dinner courses so seating location may be an issue. We are appreciative of the clients who do provide a meal. Your DJ typically is on his feet from a 2:00 PM setup & sound check until a 2:00 AM equipment return. Please let us know well before your event if a meal will not be provided during this 12 hour period.

DJ Dinner Seating?
Typically, the DJ, Photographer, Videographer are seated together at a corner table, sometimes in another room. We would ask that a small table be provided close to the DJ equipment, we are at events to work, including through dinner. We will not leave our equipment unattended.

Can my DJ act as an MC on the night?
Our professional DJs will act as your official MC if you want. This will be arranged when you contaact our services. Normally your DJ will make brief announcements on the night to help your event run as smoothly as possible.

How can I make sure that my reception will flow smoothly?
Sound Innovations Professional Disc Jockeys will have met with you (perhaps electronically) a few times before the day of your event. Our DJ will provide a short review of the printed agenda with both your MC & the venue room captain. You should relax & enjoy your day, all of the homework is done.

School Dances

Can our school submit requests before the dance?
This is usually a requirement. Ours staff will review the appropriateness of the requests & design musical sets for your dance. Our request forms are available for download. Look in the Client Support area.

Do you have school friendly edited versions of popular tracks?
Yes. Many tunes in our music library carry the designation (radio) or (explicit). Our DJs will adhere to school board policies per lyrical content.

Do you do Video Dances?

Services

Are there any extra or hidden costs?
Any additional costs above our contracted price will be discussed & documented before your event. This includes rates for "extra time" to extend an evening, billed in 30 minute increments with your authorization. There will be no "sticker shock".

Is there a fee for travel?
Sound Innovations Professional Disk Jockeys serves Toronto & the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). We have made many clients happy all over Southern Ontario. Refer to the map on our Venues Links page. There are no extra travel charges for our local customers. For more distant client venues, extra charges will be discussed & documented before your event. Sound Innovations does not operate in the USA as border crossings with equipment has become too prohibitive. We do enjoy entertaining our American neighbors when they visit us.

Do we get a receipt?
Yes. Final payment is due the day of your event & you will receive a receipt.

Do you confirm my event details on contract?
Yes. All times, location details, contact people, rates etc. are documented in our invoice / contract when you book with Sound Innovations Professional Disc Jockeys.

How far ahead should I book my reservation with you?
Dates are filled on a first come, first serve basis. Avoid dissapointment & contact us today.

When should we pay our DJ?
A deposit is required to lock in your date. The remaining balance is due on or before the day of your event.

Can we pay with a credit card?
No. Sound Innovations Professional Disc Jockeys accepts: Cash, Cheques, & Certified International Money Orders.
