Projectors

Here is a list of measurements & traditional analog horizontal resolutions for various media to better help you understand video projection. The list includes popular video source formats. Some of the horizontal line values are approximate, rounded to the nearest 10. For ease of comparison all values are for the NTSC (National Television System Committee) system & are listed in ascending order from lowest quality to highest quality.

PowerPoint (computer) presentations are typically limited to the SVGA video standard because small presentation font sizes will become illegible in a large auditorium. Video signals exceeding a projector's native resolution may be down scaled resulting in a less than crisp image. The lumen is the unit of luminous flux, a measure of the total "amount" of visible light emitted by a source, the higher the number the better.
